2007 - The Eagles - Long Run Out Of Eden !!

  • 20 new recordings ! 2 Discs !

  • Six years in production, 'Long Road Out Of Eden' is the seventh studio album from country rock mainstays The Eagles

  • Recording began a full 22 years after the release of their previous opus with a tweaked line-up (following Don Felder's dismissal in 2001) and some instrumental augmentations.

  • Lead single 'How Long' adheres to the musical templates the band is known for, but album tracks such as the ten-minute epic title track showcase the wider scope of earlier successes suchas 'Hotel California'.

  • Eagerly anticipated by their aging fanbase, 'Long Road Out Of Eden' is a worthy continuation of the Eagles story.

2007 - Backstreet Boys - Unbreakable !!

This follow-up to the Backstreet Boys' successful 2005 comeback marks their sixth studio effort, and probably the most varied presentation of material in their canon. The trademark harmonies are still in full, glorious effect (minus one voice, that of Kevin Richardson, who left the group to pursue an acting career), enriched by a more rocking sound and the presence of live instrumentation instead of programmed keyboards and beats. The first single, "Inconsolable," is a piano-laced weeper that already charted high before the release of the album.

1991 - Yes - Union !!

While Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman & Howe went their own way, Yes were working on their follow-up to "Big Generator". The band had been shopping around for a new singer in case Anderson would not be involved. They worked with ex-Supertramp Roger Hodgson, and songwriter Billy Sherwood of World Trade. Hodgson enjoyed working with the group; but thought it unwise to attempt to pass off the music as Yes. Other names were being mentioned as possible replacements, most notably Steve Walsh of the band Kansas. However Walsh was almost immediately dropped from consideration as it was felt that his vocal styling would not mesh with the current sound that the band was trying to produce at the time.

Arista, ABWH's new label, encouraged ABWH to seek outside songwriters, and Trevor Rabin ultimately sent a demo. Predictably, Arista sensed the commercial possibility of a union of Yes and ABWH. This would lead to the end of Yes having new albums released by Atlantic Records after more than 20 years of their initial recording contract.

Throughout early 1991, phone calls were made, lawyers soothed, and agreements were struck, with Yes joining ABWH for the Union album. Each group did its own songs, with Jon Anderson singing on all of the vocal tracks, and Steve Howe contributing a trademark acoustic guitar solo. Chris Squire sang backing vocals on a few of the ABWH tracks (with Tony Levin doing all the bass on those songs). None of the songs on "Union" featured all eight members at once.

The collective work of both factions yield a tour de force. These fourteen songs far exceed anything that the individuals involved, solo or otherwise, have recorded since "90125". The record has something for everyone: arena-scale rockers that outperform anything on "Big Generator", complex arrangements that succeed where the first ABWH album failed and individual contributions that ooze with atmosphere.

Steve Howe's inspired guitar licks (including another acoustic solo piece, "Masquerade"), Bill Bruford's off-kilter drumming, the decision to allow Tony Levin's bass to fill the same space as Chris Squire once did, Trevor Rabin's dead-on hooks, and Jon Anderson's voice paired once again with Squire. "Union" really does represent the best of both worlds. Where "Big Generator" sounded mechanical, "Union" feels organic; where the ABWH experiment lacked direction, here it is focused like a high-powered laser. Each of the fourteen tracks is a miniature treasure for fans, but even so some moments rise to the top: "Lift Me Up", "Saving My Heart", "Miracle of Life", "Silent Talking", "I Would Have Waited Forever", "Shock to the System" and "Dangerous (Look in the Light of What You're Searching For)" belong with their best tracks from the '80s and '90s.

If Yes seemed to take its heritage lightly with "Drama", "Union" settles the score with fans. As a further treat, the entire lineup supported the album with a live tour.

2007 - Feist - The Reminder !!

Feist is the solo project of Canada's Leslie Feist, a prolific artist who has also played in one capacity or another with Broken Social Scene, Kings of Convenience and half a dozen other bands. The Reminder, her third release, comes from the same well of quiet, appealing songwriting, and delicate vocalizations that made 2004's Let It Die such a sweet treat. This one is a bit more hushed and ballad heavy, closer to Cat Power than Peaches (with whom Feist has also worked with in the past) but maintains an indie-minded blend of confessional pop, jazzy folk, and lo-fi torch songs. The comparatively upbeat single "My Moon My Man" splits her voice off into unexpected harmonies, just dissonant enough to stick in your head. It's hard to predict where her melodies are going to end up; "Brandy Alexander" starts with a simple snap-pulse, and gradually unfolds into a cathartic chorus of sweeping vocal overlays. Throughout, the record profits from a simple, unfussy aesthetic that keeps the production minimal and the emphasis squarely on Feist's cracking, wistful vibrato. Everything sounds deliberate, but not obsessed over, like an e-mailed wedding invitation. It's a low-pressure vibe, welcoming and content to linger. And linger you will.

2007 - Orson - Culture Vultures !!

2007 UK pressing of the sophomore album from the L.A. band who had to travel overseas to make a splash in the music biz. Culture Vultures promises Orson’s default Pop spirit while leaning towards a more raw, live sound. 'We wanted this record to reflect our shows,' says singer, Jason Pebworth. 'There’s been this idea that we’re a bunch of guys who were brought together to make a studio album, and for some people, that’s a really bad thing. The reality is that we’ve been a loud, dirty rock band with noisy guitars and heavy drums for eight years now. It's a ballsy, foot to the floor, party record that comes dappled with pop hooks and shower-friendly melodies. This is, after all, what Orson do best. Features the single 'Ain't No Party'.

2007 - Santana - Ultimate !!

Undoubtingly, when it comes to great music these days, we really don't seem to hear anything good on the radio. Back in 1999, we were reminded of what great music was like to a whole new generation. When santana, returned to the airwaves with his smash collaborations comeback album, Supernatural, many listeners were introduced to a guitar legend who has thrived for over 4 decades of great music. Yet, there have been so many different hits collections that really have shown Santana in many ways, but there hasn't been one that shows the best of his recent comeback era. That answer has been called for on this new hits collection that reintroduces the old, and expands the anew.

The 2007 Ultimate Santana brings in his four decades of great rock music, blending Carlos Santana's blend of Rock that spans as a nice reintroduction to his greatest works. The collection mainly focuses in on his comeback period from 1999's Supernatural to today. The collection is all about his collaborations here, including some new recordings that continue to try to capture his spiritual light. The collection includes some of his classics like Evil Ways and Black Magic Woman from his first era, while his second era includes great collaborations including the smash Smooth with Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty, Put You Light On with ex-rapper Everlast, and the upbeat and down to Earth The Game Of Love with Michelle Branch, and a never-before heard rendidition of that song with Tina Turner. The collection also brings in some new blood with collaborations with Jennifer Lopez on This Boy's Fire, and Chad Kroger from Nickelback on Into The Light, which are fair but not anything to rave over.

While the album does overlook Santana's 80's period, and a few great songs like I Feel For You with Michelle Branch, Ultimate Santana is a welcoming greatest hits album for new fans as well as those who just want the die hard hits. It works as a great hits package for your music collection, and I still enjoy listening to Carlos and his guitar soul, and that is Smooth.

2007 - Norah Jones - Not Too Late !!

Although the music of Norah Jones continues to blend pop, soul, folk, and country with a seasoning of jazz, her third album for Blue Note is the first where she's written (or collaborated on) all the material. Beneath the smooth surface lie darker strains on the album-opening "Wish I Could" (about a boyfriend lost to war), intimations of mortality in "The Sun Doesn't Like You," and the post-election horrors of "My Dear Country." The last seems to channel the inspiration of Brecht/Weill, while the equally bleak "Sinkin' Soon" is set to a jaunty Dixieland rag. Throughout, Jones's vocal intimacy and melodic warmth remain as disarmingly understated as ever. The soulful "Thinking of You," the countryish "Wake Me Up," and the syncopated "Be My Somebody" reflect the captivating style of her previous work. Although too much in the same midtempo mode becomes a dreamy lull, cut by cut, Jones's voice is irresistible.

2007 - Acoustic Alchemy - This Way !!

Acoustic Alchemy are the British acoustic guitar duo of Greg Carmichael and Miles Gilderdale, and with "This Way" they are celebrating a remarkable two decades since their debut with 1987's Red Dust. For all this time they have been a quiet phenomenom, constantly topping the jazz charts in the USA, being nominated for GRAMMY's and touring the world. Following the pop-soul vibe of 2005's "American English", the duo have delivered their most aggressive and swinging, hard rocking and artfully jazzy disc to date. The regular touring/recording band of Terry Disley, Snake Davis, Fred White, Julian Crampton and Greg Grainger are joined by guests such as the buzz-of-today pianist Neil Cowley, trumpeter Rick Braun, saxman Jeff Kashiwa and, on the reggae-tinged Ernie, the great Specials Trombonist, Dennis Rollins. Just two tracks, "Out of Nowhere" and "This Way" feature only the duo - the rest are a fine mix of old-school soul/jazz, funk, reggae, and rock with a mixture of electric guitars, acoustic guitars and the horn section all combining to create a smooth but completely passionate album of classy jazzy guitar music.

2007 - Marc Cohn - Join The Parade !!

GRAMMY® AWARD WINNER MARC COHN RETURNS WITH HIS FIRST STUDIO ALBUM IN NEARLY A DECADE MARC COHN Join The Parade It has been nearly a decade since American singer/songwriter Marc Cohn last released a studio album. It has been fifteen years (1992) since he won the Grammy® Award for Best New Artist. Best known for his colossal hit "Walking In Memphis," Cohn returns with a new, passionate and poignant recording JOIN THE PARADE, to be released on October 9th. JOIN THE PARADE is the product of a personal journey. A recording of 10 songs that share a common theme woven from both Cohn's empathic observations after Hurricane Katrina and from a 2005 incident during which the singer found himself the victim of a carjacking in Denver, which left him with a gunshot wound to the head. JOIN THE PARADE is introspective. It is one man's look at the beauty of life through its fragility--spiritually moving and inspirational. Co-produced by long-time guitarist and Bob Dylan band member Charlie Sexton, the album was recorded over a period of a year both in New York, Los Angeles and Austin, Texas. JOIN THE PARADE is a long overdue album that serves to solidify Cohn's already well-known reputation as a great American songwriter.
